Goodbye LSU baseball... : (

After two rain delays and 28 hours, LSU lost to UNC. But it is ok... LSU was not expected to do very well this year with only three seniors on the team and only one being a position player. They went farther than anyone expected and I am very proud of them! They claimed the SEC championship and won the Baton Rouge regional and super- regional. And they won their first CWS game in several years. They put up a tough fight tonight! LSU doesn't have the best pitching but our pitchers did an amazing job! LSU was down by two as we started tonight after the rain delay over night. Jared Bradford relieved Blake Martin and did an amazing job! After the second rain delay, the TIGERS came back in full swing and the Nation's leading homerun hitter, Matt Clark, smoked one to tie the game! That gave LSU fans all of the confidence to win the game. Apparently, confidence does not win games though. In the eighth inning, LSU has two runners on at second and third and Matt Clark came up to bat. By this time, UNC was on their fourth or fifth or sixth (I lost count) pitcher, who also just happen to be the number one pitcher in the ACC. He decided to walk Matt Clark.. the bases were then loaded with only one out. It felt like Tuesday all over again! The next batter was freshman, D. J. LaMahiew. The poor boy cannot hit for anything (but he can field a ball amazingly well!!) and he popped one up to the second baseman. Then the next batter also hit an infield fly. Not scoring with the bases loaded was a little depressing but the score was still tied and LSU still had one more time to bat... we just had to do what we had done the whole game and strike the first three batters out... well needless to say that did not happen. We allowed two batters to get on base and then after an error they advanced to second and third. Their number one batter came to bat and our oh so wonderful coaching staff and pitcher decided to walk him and load the bases. I knew as soon as they did this, the game was going to be over... I just had a really bad feeling. And that feeling was right. The next batter was pitched the perfect pitch and knocked it out of the park. This was the first grand slam in a CWS game since 2001. It was a very sad moment... LSU got the last out and then went in to bat. In what seemed like 10 seconds, UNC got three outs and the game was called. So now I must say goodbye to LSU baseball. Next year we will go the whole way and I will be there!!! - i hope anyways! it will be my senior year so if they make i will be trying my best to get there!!
