This week = AWESOMENESS!! :)

Wednesday we are having a family Thanksgiving/ Christmas at our apartment. 10 of our closest friends from the Starkville area will be attending. I am cooking a Thanksgiving meal and after we are going all out for Christmas - including wearing Christmas sweaters.

Thursday Claire is having Kuyper :) so Friday, I will get to see him, as soon as I can make it home!!! I cannot wait to meet him!!!

Saturday I have tickets for the LSU/ Ole Miss game - be jealous :) and they are in the Ole Miss section! Look for me on TV! I will be the purple and gold in the sea of red and blue!!! I am way too excited about this!!!!!

Then Sunday thru the following Sunday, I will be in Natchez, spending time with my friendsies :)

Then I only have two more days of Starkville after that and I'm back home for Christmas holidays! Natchez may get a little tired of seeing me :)

Geaux Tigers.... beat those REBELS!!!!!!!!!! :) - did anyone else know that this game officially has a name now? - the Magnolia Bowl! So... I will be in attendance at the first Magnolia Bowl:)

State plays Arkansas this week.. hopefully they will win...

Well I am not asking the question...

Where are you Christmas? because it is right around the corner!!!! :) I only have one more lesson plan to write for the semester :) This semester has seriously flown by! Since I will be heading home for the holidays on December 3, that will not give me much time here to enjoy Christmas decorations. So... we are decorating tonight! It feels so Christmassy here! I LOVE it! Next Wednesday we had plans of having all of our friends over for Thanksgiving dinner, but now we will be having a Thanksgiving dinner with Christmas activities. After dinner we are going to make ornaments for our trees, then we are going to make Christmas cookies. We will finish the night off by eating our cookies and watching a Christmas movie! I am pretty excited about this!
Well I need to get back to decorating ;)

Geaux Tigers- LSU homecoming this Saturday

I am hoping Alabama wins all of the rest of their games so they can go into the SEC Championship at number one and Florida can KILL them and move up to number two and get into the National Championship!!!

Kaden Lee

I decided to go home this weekend to see Kaden! Here are a few pictures of the sweet little boy that wanted to play with me between 3-6 a.m. Oh well, it was worth it! He was so cute!!

He was tired of having his picture taken!

We had a photo shoot!

Silly face!

Very very silly face!

Me and Kaden! He was saying Geaux Tigers, just like his Aunt Ashley!

IT"S OVER!!!!! ;)

I am officially no longer a student!! I took my last test ever today!!! It felt so nice!! Now I take on the role as a teacher... which is kind of a little scary. But, better than having to study all night for test and such! Now it's on to writing lesson plans like crazy!!!

Welcome to the Real World...

or at least the real world minus the paycheck and plus grades. Today did not go as I hoped it would. I honestly did not know what to expect about the end of the semester, but this may be what I kind of expected. Although I ultimately knew I would not have a care- free, home work free rest of the semester, I sure hoped the seminar today would prove me wrong. For the rest of the semester I have to turn in a lesson plan for everyday. Two reflections for each lesson, one on how the lesson went and things i need to change and one on the student's reaction to the lesson. and a couple other things for each lesson. In the next four weeks, I will have filled up 4 5in binders of lesson plans and other things. In a way, it's not that much... like the lesson plans will not be that bad... it's just all of the other stuff on top of getting no sleep.

tonight i am thinking about a chicken pizza and salad as i watch food network's halloween special. i have decided i have eaten pearl street's chicken pizza enough, i can make it myself.

This semester is downhill from here...

At least I hope so anyways. Really, I will find out Friday.

I have one more math class, one more science class, one more language arts class and then two days of finals. WHOO HOO!!

After that I will be in West Point everyday. There are pro's and con's to this. The big pro (or at least I hope, for my sanity) that I will finished with busy work. I will just have lesson plans, teaching and reflections on those two things. The big con is having to wake up by 5 am every morning. Friday we have a seminar on the things to come.. so... we will see then what the future holds.

speaking of west point.. i have to be there bright and early in the morning so it's way way past bedtime!

This weekend is state's homecoming - hopefully they win. they are playing MTSU.
LSU plays georgia this weekend in death valley! GEAUX TIGERS  : )

New Background : )

i finally figured out how to change my background on this thing!

today i am busy cleaning and doing homework. (which is why i had time to figure the background thing out... when i clean and do homework, i have to procrastinate a lot)

well tonight LSU plays south carolina... i sure hope they go out there and play football this week. they definitely do not have a big head after last weeks embarrassment.

6 Things About Me...

I was tagged by Claire .

1. I dislike chocolate, a lot! I do not like the taste of it, or the texture, or the color. And, it makes me sick. I will eat it occasionally, but if I have a choice 99.9% of the time I will never choose a chocolate dessert.

2. I have a really hard time cheering for any other team in the SEC other than LSU. Except... I have learned to like MSU. I never will pull for them over LSU, but I will any other SEC team. For me to cheer for an SEC team, they will have to be playing another team that I hate (like USC, OU, OSU). I think it's because I have something against most of the teams in the SEC, so even if I need to pull for them, I just cannot bring myself to doing so. If Ole Miss plays one of my out of conference hate teams, it will be a very hard choice in choosing  who to pull for. That is how much I dislike Ole Miss.

3. I never really watched too much TV in high school. Now I am obsessed. I will watch any teenage soap opera and become addicted after one episode. It's ridiculous.

4. This may be a little too much info, but oh well I am running out of things to say. I absolutely, positively cannot stand the sound of someone peeing. Which is why I absolutely cannot go in public bathrooms. I cannot even listen to myself pee, I have to cut water on to block out the sound.

5. I have watched the food network so much that I can tell you the little annoying things each person does. For instance, Alton Brown smacks, and he smacks a lot and loud.

6. I saved the best for last. I am going through the process of applying for culinary school in three years. I am actually not going to do culinary school, but baking and pastry school. If all goes as planned, I will move to Houston after I finish my teaching pay back for my scholarship and get a teaching job in Houston and go to night classes for pastry school. I want to do this for myself. Maybe decorate cakes and such on the weekend. Eventually, like after I retire from teaching later on in my life, I would like to open up a kid foods restaurant. But who knows. Mom says I change these plans daily.

Well that's all.. I tag Robin . Have fun : )

LSU :(

this is sad.. lsu just lost by 30 points. i wish it would have been the other way, but not all games go your way. at least florida is ranked, so we were not beat by 30 by an unranked team. i am curious to see how far lsu drops after this game. the whole team is to blame for this fiasco. the all stank it up. our quarterback is just a freshman,so hopefully after he gets a good fill for the sec, he will be awesome.

in other news, state beat vandy today! that's exciting.

oh well, GEAUX TIGERS.. i still love them :)

Expensive Weekend

I spent way toooooo much money this weekend, and it's early Saturday... Yesterday I went to Jackson to see some friends from Carey. I made it to Jackson before they did so I decided to stop in Old Navy. So there was my first mistake... They had a pretty good sale and I bought too much. Then I ran in Bed, Bath and Beyond and found mom a birthday present. Then we went and ate at Kiefer's. It was so so so so so so so good! I love it!!! After dinner we went to the fair... that's when the spending got a little out of hand. We all decided we were going to ride rides and 25 dollars later on tickets, I was wishing I would have passed. Then of course we had to eat some fair food. I settled on a funnel cake with caramel and a lemonade! :)

Mental Holiday was a Success!!

Taking four days off was wonderful! I feel so refreshed from the craziness of last week. So refreshed, in fact, I am having trouble getting back to reality. I needed to do a few things over the break to stay on schedule and needless to day, I did nothing. And, I am still doing nothing. Those four days flew by so fast....

Saturday I spent ALL day in Baton Rouge, shopping! It was nice! Mom bought me A LOT of stuff! She kept reminding me that we were not in BR to shop for me, but I would have hated to see what all I would have been bought if it was about me!!! But really, I got some much needed clothes to wear to initiations and what not. Sunday I got to hang out with Merisha and Andrew and Zoey (the cat). It was fun to hang out with my friends again! Monday, Robin and I planned our favorite outing.. PEARL STREET! and Claire crashed our party (but we didn't mind!!) I have been craving their chicken pizza for the last seven weeks. It was SOOO good!! Since Claire crashed our party, I got to see Knox! He is getting so big! He can say Mississippi River! I am still impressed! Then Tuesday I had to drive back to the real world... NOT FUN!

The only good thing about being back is this is a short week! Today we had to put on a reading fair at the school I am at. It was fun. We have been working a lot since school started to get ready for this and I am glad it's over.

This weekend LSU plays Florida in the swamp! I have high hopes for my tigers (as I usually do)! Each year this is the one game I hate watching. Reason #1 - No matter what Florida is ranked, they always put up a fight, which means I have 30 heart attacks during the game. Reason #2 - I HATE HATE HATE the chomp. It unnerves me. Reason #3- I like Tim Tebow. He's a good guy... I hate that we made him cry last season, but I like beating him, since he's one of the best!

Well I need to go read my book that I have not started and am having a test on tomorrow...

Geaux Tigers! Beat those Gators!

terrible week = great weekend and fall break!

It's almost Friday. I made comments at the end of each week prior to this one, that these weeks are flying by. I wish I could say the same about this one. I feel like Monday was forever ago. I kept thinking today that the week was over, then I remember I still have a whole day left. I have two presentation tomorrow. One of them is a dramatic presentation. Since I have not a drop of dramatic ability, this should be interesting.

Tomorrow about 12:30 I will headed to Natchez. It's the first time I have been home in seven weeks. Fall break is Monday and Tuesday so I am going on a mental holiday for the next four days. Well, as close to a mental holiday as I can get. Of course, I still have a lot of stuff to do, but it will not be bad.

LSU is off this weekend... but I am still going to Baton Rouge! I have missed it dearly! I need some new LSU shirts and items!

prayer request and a few other things!

I'm hoping the phrase "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" has some truth to it. It's only Monday and I am just praying I live to see Friday. This week is the monster of all monsters.

Geaux Tigers!! - btw, college football was AWESOME this weekend!! I love upsets (except when LSU is upset, of course!)

Please be in prayer for my mother. Last Thursday, my grandmother (moms mom) was put in the hospital for congestive heart failure, and was not given good news. The doctors talked to her about quality of life and where to go from here. She has major blockage in her neck, that is going to cause a stroke. She needs surgery, but isn't strong enough to make it through surgery. My mom spent Saturday calling the family, to let everyone know what is going on. She could not get in touch with one of her brothers, so her other brother said he would let him know if he found him. Early Sunday morning, my uncle called to let my mom know that he found their brother and he was dead. He died Saturday night/ Sunday morning of a heart attack. My grandmother checked herself out of the hospital yesterday to go home and be with his kids.

Thanks.

LSU and an unsafe apartment!

Since LSU plays State tomorrow, this week has been interesting!! Of course, I have sported my LSU items to class everday!! Let's just say I did not make many friends :) My window at my apartment shares the LSU love, as well. It has not made many friends this week either.... This morning when I went to get in my car, I noticed there was a sign on my windshield. The sign said "Geaux to hell LSU" in a nice shade of purple. This was after I sat on my stairs all night scared to death, because someone kept coming and knocking on my windows. After seeing the sign, I think that is what it had to do with. Which is ok, because the LSU stuff is staying put!!

Normally, I would have run outside when someone was knocking on my window to see who it was, but not this week. Sometime last Saturday, someone stole three bikes from my back porch. My porch is gated in and the bikes were chained to the fence, so the robber had to open the gate and look around to see that they were chained to the fence. Then they had to go get something to cut the chains, so these were not just people who happen to notice three bikes and grab them. That has had be scared all week. Then Thursday morning, I noticed the door was open a little bit at the apartment next to me. No one lives there, so the door should be shut and locked. The people that live on the other side of the apartment said someone broke the lock and went in. Besides the fact that whoever broke into that apartment broke the lock, which is the same lock on my door, the person who broke in had to have watched that apartment for a while to know that no one lives there. I just figured out last week that no one lives there and I walk past it everyday. I'm scared they know that only girls live here and that most of the time I am here by myself. After the bikes were stolen, I went and talked to the lady at our management company and she called the security guard to watch our little section closely. I have yet to see him, so I am not sure how good he is doing his job!

Well this week at school is going to be the craziest, hardest week of the entire semester!!!! Hopefully, I will survive!!

LSU vs. State Saturday at 7:30 on ESPN, now I'm off to watch the debate!

Since I bought a new computer and iPod before school started, I have had to keep myself on a very tight budget. My budget restricts me from going to dirt cheap, and I was doing so well. That is until this past week. there is something about going to dirt cheap that chills me out. So needless to say, I went to dirt cheap this week, not once, but twice. I got some good stuff though, including Windell's Halloween costume- Optimus Prime (transformer).

This week has been the most stressful week thus far of the semester. I know it is just going to keep getting more and more stressful, but this week was a doozy. We had a test everyday, along with lesson plan units due everyday. My schedule this week has looked like this.. wake up at 5:30, go to school and print off powerpoints for the day and do last minute cramming, go to class, change classes, go to the library from 12- 6, come home and cook dinner, finish and upload assignments to taskstream, study until 12 or later, sleep for the little bit of the day that is left, wake up and do it all over again. The first few weeks, I survived by taking naps, but as you can see from my daily schedule- there has been no time for naps.... That is, until today... After class, my partner and I finished our unit that is due Monday and I came straight home around 1 and slept until 5. It was much needed!

So MSU didn't exactly gets their butts kicked by Auburn last week.. but I would not exactly say they did good. The game score was 3-2 and Auburn won... Technically, State did not score any points, but you have to know a little about football to understand how we ended the game with 2 points. State's offense STINKS! Auburn was just handing them the ball on a silver platter and they could not do a thing with it. They would not have got 2 points if it wasn't for defense. Needless to say, I do not have too much hope for State this year unless they play someone with a really bad defense and an offense that State's defense can handle....

On the other hand, LSU kicked some tail! They killed N. Texas, as expected. This week they play Auburn, first their first SEC game of the year. Hopefully we will kick their tails, as well!

Well, I have the apartment to myself this weekend, so hopefully I will catch up on sleep and cleaning!! Hopefully, I can find Jonezetta's new CD somewhere in Starkville. It came out Tuesday, but I haven't had time to go buy it!

I am a college student

This past week, the senior education majors received our applications to student teach, I mean our application for the teacher internship. During this meeting, we basically we were basically told that it did not matter how much money we paid MSU, we were no longer college students attending MSU, we are teacher candidates applying for a job everywhere we go. I have no problem grasping the concept that we are applying for a job everywhere we go, especially since the principal of the school I am currently at will be writing us a letter of recommendation. However, I do have a small problem understanding the part about not being a college student. I like to think as long as I am paying tuition, I am a college student.

Last week I made a menu for the next month and went grocery shopping for the whole month. Of course, there will be some things that we have to go get later, but for the most part we have everything we will need! We have established Thursday night as homemade pizza night! I have been making just a plain pizza dough, but this past week I used Claire's wheat pizza dough. (I tried to link that, but if it does not work, click on Claire on the side of my blog) Usually we just make cheese pizza, but I made chicken pizza for me and Jess and a small cheese pizza for Spenser.

Sunday I going to attempt to make a roast.. I never tried this so hopefully it comes out! Wednesday is fettucini alfredo!

Last  night I got brave and made praline- cheesecake homemade icecream! It is SOOO good!

I did not go see Gavin last night :( I fell asleep... but it was much needed sleep. I just wish I could have falled asleep earlier in the day so I could have made it to go see Gavin.

LONG LONG week...

Since Gustav blew through Woodville, I housed two evacuees, my brother and my grandmother. Let's just stick to saying it was a LONG week! Mom came up yesterday to collect them (at least until Ike decides what he wants to do). While she was here she bought us groceries and took me shopping for some more "teacher clothes." Therefore, it was a good ending to a long week!

Since Joey mentioned it, I will discuss last weeks game...
The weekend overall was wonderful- I mean, it was opening weekend of college football :))
LSU whooped up on Appalation State after having to have the game moved up to breakfast time. Then it came time for the Ms State game... I joked all week with my die hard Ms State friends telling them how funny it would be if State lost to La Tech, but seriously did not think they were that bad. If you watched the game, I am sure you could figure out early on that it was really a race to see who could play the worst, and State went home with the crown. They just got their butts kicked. It was slightly, scratch that, it was down right embarrassing!! As soon as I left the stadium, I sent a text to all of my State friends saying, "this is why LSU picked State for homecoming." The one time I attempt to support the school I go to, they loose to La Tech.. oh well, I had no emotional attachment to this lose!

This is for Joey too- so he better read this! I went to Oxford yesterday (it was extremely hard for me), to see Julie and Kevin say I do.... When I got there Andrew Cole said "I'm glad your here, I need some LSU around me!!!" Then he mentioned later, "Even the stinkin flowers in this town are red and blue." He was crackin me up!

Sometime this week I am going to post the pictures I took at the wedding!

I'm ready for this weekend! LSU vs. N. Texas and MSU vs. Auburn (we may really loose this one). This week is also Bulldog Bash - last year Jonezetta was there and they were awesome. This year Gavin DeGraw will be and I hope he is equally awesome!

Well I need to change laundry out and go to bed... I have to keep up with my sleep so the little first graders I have this semester do not get the best of me!!

For the first two weeks of school, I did not have class on Wednesdays. Instead, we have seminar. Personally, I would rather go to class instead of having to sit in an auditorium and get rules read to me for four hours. However, Wednesday seminar does have a few perks. First one is, I do not have homework on Tuesday nights!! Second perk means I do not have to be in West Point at 7am. But for the time I will discuss my love for no homework Tuesday... Last year I did not have ABCFamily in Starkville, so I kind of fell behind on a season or two of a few shows that come on the station. Well this year, to my surprise, when I returned to Starkville, ABCFamily magically appeared on my line-up. I have taken full advantage of this! For the last two weeks, I have anxiously waited for Tuesday (last night). The last time I had ABCFamily, the TV show, Greek, was just coming out. I fell in love with it. Then.... I moved to Starkville and had to give up my show. Now, back to no homework Tuesday... Last night was the season premiere to the third season of Greek. The best part about this was that ABCFamily played the complete season two all day yesterday! It was wonderful! I got to watch my favorite show all day yesterday and did not worry one bit about what homework I was missing, because I did not have any!!!

This weekend I decided to be productive and bake a little! I baked two loaves of cheese bread (soooo good)! and Fococcia (sp). I also made pizza dough for homemade pizza, cream cheese cookies, and sugar cookies!! It was very relaxing!! This weekend I am going to Ruston for the La Tech- Ms State game and to visit with some good friends that go to Tech!! I wish LSU would be playing at Tech, instead of Ms State but anyways... I think I am going to bake a Milky Way Cake and chocolate chip cookies to bring... depends on how much homework I have tomorrow night!

Well I am still loving my macbook and iPod touch!!

MAC Book!!

My macbook came in today! I love it! It is my most favorite thing ever! I should have done homework as soon as I got home, because now I do not want to work on it. I just want to play with my new computer!!!

An Update on my busy busy life!

Sorry I did not post this week. I found out when I got back to school that I do not have intenet until after labor day. So you may be asking how I am blogging right now. The answer- I found one location in my apartment where I can pick up on my neighbor's wireless internet.. so I am stealing the internet for a little while.

Last week I ordered a new laptop! I have wanted a mac for a long long long time and I finally ordered it. Right now, if you are a student, you can get a discount and a free iPod touch, so it was good time to make a purchase. My iPod came in before I left for school, but my macbook did not come until two days after I left, so I have yet to get it. My mom mailed it to me and it should be here Monday!! I am sooo excited about getting it in and playing with it! I have had way way too much fun with my iPod this week! It is wonderful! If anyone is in the market for a new iPod, I highly recommend the touch!

On to other things... I started classes this week :(. They are NO fun! By Wednesday, I was trying to figure out how I could change my major and still graduate the first of May. This semester is just going to be terrible and there is no changing that, so I am going to have to suck it up and get over it. I have early classes everyday. After labor day I will have to be in class at 7:30 everyday and then after Halloween I will have to be in West Point at 7:15 everyday. West Point is a good 30 minute drive from my apartment, so that is going to stink!

I have not done too much cooking this week, which may be why I am a little stressed today. I did bake a creamcheese- pecan pie last night and it was WONDERFUL!! Tomorrow for lunch, we will be having lasagna, so I have to put it together today so I can just put it in the oven tomorrow! Hopefully sometime today, I can get a menu put together for the week.

I have a lot of luck shopping this week, which is really not a good thing for my wallet. I needed some more teacher clothes, so I stopped at Target and Old Navy on the way back to Starkville. I found some great pieces that are perfect for teaching, and were super on sale! I went to dirt cheap this week and found some more great pieces for $2 a piece! Then my favorite purchase of the week was my down comforter I got for $10. It is AMAZING!!!

This weekend I will be traveling to Ruston for the MS State- LA Tech football game! I will be staying with some friends from high school, I have not seen in a while, so it will be a nice get away! The next weekend, I will be attending Julie and Kevin's wedding in Oxford! Then the next weekend is Bulldog Bash. Hopefully all of these weekend plans will keep my mind clear of the misery I will be enduring during the week!

Short Update :)

I have been without internet for basically the last month! I have internet on my phone, which is what I have been using to check facebook and email. I can also check this and read everyone's blog from my phone, I am just not able to make a post. I am packing now to go back to school in the morning. I will post again with an actual update when I get back into my routine at school!

It has been a pretty good week!!!

I finished classes at State on Tuesday!! That was a pretty good start to the week! Then I drove straight home and picked up my new cell phone! Then I went to the church softball game! And we won! I also got to see some friends!! :) So Tuesday was a pretty great day! Today I FINALLY got to see Kaden! I spent two hours with him all by myself! I just LOVE him!!! I forgot my camera in the car so I had to use my camera on my phone so I do not have any really amazing new pictures of him! I also ran by the church to start helping plan first grade camp, and went to another church softball game (we lost :(. ). And to top off the great week, I ate dinner at La Fiesta! So it seems like this week will just continue to get better!! Ok, that is all of my life I will bore you with for now! Here is a picture (not great though) of me and Kaden!

Goodbye LSU baseball... : (

After two rain delays and 28 hours, LSU lost to UNC. But it is ok... LSU was not expected to do very well this year with only three seniors on the team and only one being a position player. They went farther than anyone expected and I am very proud of them! They claimed the SEC championship and won the Baton Rouge regional and super- regional. And they won their first CWS game in several years. They put up a tough fight tonight! LSU doesn't have the best pitching but our pitchers did an amazing job! LSU was down by two as we started tonight after the rain delay over night. Jared Bradford relieved Blake Martin and did an amazing job! After the second rain delay, the TIGERS came back in full swing and the Nation's leading homerun hitter, Matt Clark, smoked one to tie the game! That gave LSU fans all of the confidence to win the game. Apparently, confidence does not win games though. In the eighth inning, LSU has two runners on at second and third and Matt Clark came up to bat. By this time, UNC was on their fourth or fifth or sixth (I lost count) pitcher, who also just happen to be the number one pitcher in the ACC. He decided to walk Matt Clark.. the bases were then loaded with only one out. It felt like Tuesday all over again! The next batter was freshman, D. J. LaMahiew. The poor boy cannot hit for anything (but he can field a ball amazingly well!!) and he popped one up to the second baseman. Then the next batter also hit an infield fly. Not scoring with the bases loaded was a little depressing but the score was still tied and LSU still had one more time to bat... we just had to do what we had done the whole game and strike the first three batters out... well needless to say that did not happen. We allowed two batters to get on base and then after an error they advanced to second and third. Their number one batter came to bat and our oh so wonderful coaching staff and pitcher decided to walk him and load the bases. I knew as soon as they did this, the game was going to be over... I just had a really bad feeling. And that feeling was right. The next batter was pitched the perfect pitch and knocked it out of the park. This was the first grand slam in a CWS game since 2001. It was a very sad moment... LSU got the last out and then went in to bat. In what seemed like 10 seconds, UNC got three outs and the game was called. So now I must say goodbye to LSU baseball. Next year we will go the whole way and I will be there!!! - i hope anyways! it will be my senior year so if they make i will be trying my best to get there!!

A little bit of everything, that somehow all relates to LSU - go figure!

Everyone should check out this link. It is about a thirty second clip of Jim Hawthorne broadcasting when Blake Dean hit the ball that won us the game.... I think this was my exact reaction!

So I bit all of my fingernails off during yesterday's game. I had been doing so well. I broke down and bought some of the finger nail polish that has the bad taste, so maybe during the next nail bitter game, I will veer away from literally biting my nails!

I decided last night to look at the Tiger Mania website.. and well, I probably should have not done that. It is probably a good thing I am a broke college student, otherwise I would have spent a lot of money!!!

I am still overly excited today about yesterday's win!! North Carolina lost to Fresno State last night so we play North Carolina again tomorrow night. We lost to them Sunday 8-4. Hopefully, there will a different ending! This will also be an elimination game so there will be little chance of me not having heart failure again. The game is at 6pm on Thursday and I am not doing so well at patiently waiting for the game! The saying that has appeared to become LSU's motto during the last month or so is " Refuse to Lose!" I am a firm supporter of that statement and will be using it until we claim the NAtional Championship and win the College World Series.

So, GEAUX TIGERS GEAUX, Refuse to Lose!!!!!

LSU Baseball = : )

Today's game gave me heart failure. All LSU sports seem to do that to me. I decided to go to class for a little while and leave early to watch the last half of the game! I am glad I did! By the time I was able to get home, LSU was down by four. You could barely hear the LSU fans in the stands. It seemed to be a little depressing. My mom was already sending me text saying it was over. But, I am the type of person who has faith until the game is over.. even if we are loosing by 30. With that said, of course I believed we could and would still win! LSU is known as the fourth quarter team in football and has appeared to be an eighth inning team in baseball, so I anxiously waited on the eighth inning so we would rally and make this grand come back!! When the eighth inning finally came around we were down by four. Winning was definitely an option! All we needed was a grand slam to tie the game, and I have seen these boys pull that off more than once so I was not worried at all. Then the eighth inning was over and we had not scored. I will admit, I had lost a little hope since we usually rally during the eighth and that did not happen, but I knew we were the home team so we had one more shot. The TIGERS took the field and quickly got three outs! Then we batted and got several base hits, scored a run, then loaded the bases. I knew at that point if we had any shot at winning the game it would happen right now. And it did! The beast, Blake Dean, came to back and knocked the crap out of the ball and three runs scored and the game was called! We WON! It was soooo exciting!! I yelled a lot and now have a sore throat! Then I realized.... we either have to play North Carolina again or a team that beat North Carolina. I am afraid my heart failure is just beginning! At least Thursday's game will be at 6 pm so I will not have to miss class again! I am sure if anyone has decided to read this, they are probably thinking I am crazy, but oh well! I love me some LSU sports!

I survived two weeks with the kids, but my fingernails did not. It was sad... I realized Sunday that I had managed to bite them all off.. I am trying again this week. When they get a little longer I am going to get fake ones put on so they will grow underneath and I will not be able to bite them off. Well that is the plan anyways.

This weekend was EXTREMELY busy! Friday was Relay for Life. I left around 3, which was probably not a good idea. Saturday was Brooke's shower and then Sunday was Father's Day. At least I got my monies worth of gas with all of that going on.

LSU made it to Omaha! but, they lost their first game last night. It was sad. Luckily, it's double elimination so we play again tomorrow at 1! I have class at that time, so I will be skipping it! I cannot miss a College World Series game to sit in class and do nothing... so all you LSU fans, wear your purple and gold tomorrow to support the baseball boys!

Well that is all.... GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Mondays come so fast...

So never ever ever go to the Tupelo zoo. It was ridiculous. They had like ten animals and it cost us an arm and a leg to get it. Windell still enjoyed because he got to feed the giraffes and goats (which cost extra) and he got to ride a pony (also cost extra) and he had his picture taken with a baby alligator (and you guessed it, cost extra). So after that emptied the bank account, we went to the car museum. I am not all that into cars so it was not something I just loved, but it was a lot cooler than the zoo. Here are some pictures.

I made it through one week with the kids.. They haven't completely driven me crazy yet.

Dinner plans for the week:
Monday: Cheese soufflé and salad
Tuesday: Gumbo
Wednesday: breakfast
Thursday :leftover gumbo
Friday: Relay for life in Natchez
Saturday... ? will be in Natchez
Sunday.. probably have to cook for my dad.

It has been officially 11 days of no biting my fingernails! they are getting long!

....

Mom was released from the hospital today. She is now at Traci and Steve's recovering for the next two weeks until all of her post op check ups are finished.

I am kind of excited about going to the zoo tomorrow! I cannot even remember the last time I went to the zoo!

So this is big news for me... I have gone one week of not biting my finger nails! I am pretty excited about this. I have never made longer than 2 days. They are currently longer than they have ever been! I am determined to keep letting them grow so I can have pretty nails!

Alfredo Sauce

I tend to change the recipe each time I make it, but the general idea stays the same. So, here goes...

Ingredients
1-2 Tbs of Butter of Margerine
1 Tbs of minced garlic
1 1/2 - 2 C of a mix of any of the following : heavy cream/whipping cream/ half n half/ whole milk. (I never measure so this may be a little off. I usually use whatever I have in the fridge)
1 c of cheese. you can use whatever kind you want. at first i only used Parmesan, but now i use whatever i have. I really like using a Parmesan mix and a little mozzarella. but the choice is yours.
salt and pepper to taste

In a sauce pan, melt a tablespoon or two of butter or olive oil. After that is melted and hot add a tablespoon of garlic. Fresh minced garlic is always better but pre-minced will work just fine. The heat does not need to be on high because you will burn the garlic and that taste real bad! I usually have it a notch or two above medium. After the garlic has softened a little add the milk/cream or whatever you choose. after that comes to a boil or is pretty hot add cheese and whisk it in. After a few minutes, it will become sauce like. If it is too thick you can add a little more cream. If is too thin you can add a little more cheese and then make what I call a slur(i stole that word from food network). That is mixing a little flour with a little hot water in a bowl .. it needs to look similar to milk. Add a little of that until it is to the right thickness. The slur will thicken the sauce almost immediately and it does not require a lot. If you add too much you can add more cream to thin it out. Then add salt and pepper and serve over hot pasta or whatever you like!
Sorry, this is probably the most thrown together recipe ever. I have never measured anything or gone by a recipe to make it....

Update on mom... She is doing good today. She came out of surgery around 6 yesterday evening. She has been up and down several times today. We just talked to her a little while ago and she says she will be up and out of there in no time (ha ha- we will see).

So I did not think it was possible, but I burned chicken stock today.... twice. I was making homemade chicken noodle soup and the stock kept burning. I am blaming it on my pot. I cannot remember one single time I have used it without something burning in it. After my two failed attempts at soup, we had cheese ravioli with alfredo sauce and spinach salad and garlic bread. It was an easy last minute meal!

Classes might be a little harder than I thought they were going to be. My world civ class has lectures online that I have to listen to and take test on. The whole point of online school is to get out of the lectures... I have 5- 6 hours of lecture to listen to a week. :( Then American Lit will be the death of me this summer. We have a million things to read each week. I like literature but not 175 pages a week worth. My British lit class is super easy!! We do not have really anything to do in that class. I wish that was my American lit class. I would much rather read the passages from the British lit book than the American lit one. oh well, at least I have one break! Psychology of the Exceptional Child is interesting. My teacher had a stroke and has a speech impediment, so it is kind of difficult to understand him. He is so nice though!

Saturday I am bringing Windell and Rachael to the Tupelo zoo and buffalo park then we are going to the Antique Car Museum. It will be a fun and LONG day!

Well I hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

Prayer Request

If anyone happens to read this today. Mom is going into surgery around 11:30. It's going to be a fairly long surgery. I think 5 or 6 hours. She will then have to stay at the hospital for a week and half to two weeks to recover. Since she is having her surgery in Atlanta, it's a little too far to drive home for a few days then go back to Atlanta for her post- op check up so she will be staying with the Brocks for another week.

p.s... I made an A in geology!!!

No more Geology... EVER!

I finished Geology this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boy am I glad I took that during maymester! There is no way I could have sat in that class for a whole semester! I should know my grade soon! Today was also the start of my three online classes! English Lit appears to be easy and the other two do not look too terrible hard, but they are not going to be "give me" classes. I start the Psych class tomorrow. I already know how that one will be and I am not looking forward to that!

I drove to Meridian yesterday and picked up Rachael and Windell. So far, so good. Except for the fact that Windell woke up sometime before 6 this morning. Today that was not that big of a problem because I just got up and studied, but if he continues to do that I am going to be one sleepy girl! I also brought them to Walmart today so I could go grocery shopping! That was not as bad of an experience as I thought it would be.

I am copying Claire's blog by posting dinner plans for the week. I think it will help me stay on schedule.

Monday: Pizza Kit.. Not sure what exactly is in the kit though
Tuesday: Grilled Chicken with Cous Cous and salad
Wednesday: Homemade Chicken Noodle soup and Grilled cheese
Thursday: Hamburgers and potato casserole or Hot Dogs and mac n cheese
Friday: Mexican Night...
Saturday: Hamburger Helper, if we are home... Mcdonalds if we go to Tupelo.
Sunday: (lunch) Pork Loin with yellow rice and salad and breadsticks
(Dinner) leftovers or sandwiches

We will see how well I stick to that.

Well Mom will be in Atlanta for three weeks now instead of two, but I do not know why yet.

Productive Day!

I have been fairly productive today! I cleaned all of upstairs minus Spenser's room. I did go get the trash out so it would not make the hallway stinky. I cleaned my room, which took forever. I have not put clothes up in a while! Then I cleaned both bathrooms top to bottom. Erin moved out Monday but left a mess in her room, so I had to clean that too. Then I cleaned the downstairs bathroom. My eyes are still burning a little from all of the cleaning sprays. I also cleaned out the refrigerator and freezer. Now I can fit some groceries in there! After I did all of that cleaning I had a lot of trash to take out. So I did that too! Then I called it a day. I am wore out.

Dinner tonight: Baked Talapia (I think that is how you spell it) with mango salsa and yellow rice.

These Days...

So this is for Claire, since she says I have not posted in a while!

I have been WAY busy with school! I took 21 hours this past semester and it nearly killed me! I am happy to say (even though I may be bragging a little) I came out with a 4.0! I was very very very very excited! After finishing that very long semester, I came home for a little over a week and did a whole lot of nothing! It was great while it lasted and made me sad to see the week pass by so quickly! May 12th I started summer school :( I am currently in the last week of Intro to Geology, my intercession class (aka maymester). I take the final June 2nd!!! but :( I start three online classes that day - English Lit 1, American Lit 2, World Civ 1. On June 3rd, I start another class at Ms. State - Psychology of the Exceptional Child and the Special Child. I finish that class like July 2nd (or so). The online classes will not end until July 26th (or so). So basically, my summer will consist of school, school and more school! But the end is in sight! Graduation will be May 1, 2009! It is currently the most exciting thing I am looking forward tooo!!!

On Sunday, I will be meeting mom and dad in Meridian to pick Windell and Rachael up for 14 days! That's right, they will be staying with me in Starkville for 14 days while mom is in Atlanta for surgery and recovery. It shall be fun.

Really the only fun thing in my life this summer is Brooke and Chad's wedding on July 19th. I will actually be home most all of July so I can help her prepare for the big day and help her Maid of Honor prepare for some things! It will be a fun alternative to doing homework every night! I also might go to junior camp depending on what days my finals are.. we will see!

I also recently bought a new digital camera, so i have been taking pictures like crazy! I love having a camera that takes good pictures!!!

LSU won the SEC Championship in baseball yesterday!!! They beat Ole Miss!!!! - that makes it even better!! Behind LSU football, LSU baseball is my favorite sport so it was real exciting! I actually got to watch the end of the game at the church ice cream social!

Well that is enough rambling on my boring life!

Hope everyone has a great summer! :)

Geaux Tigers- hopefully we will be making it to Omaha!

I decided to take a break from writing papers on this wonderful Friday evening and upload a video of Windell! I think everyone has seen it before but it makes me laugh every time I watch it!

Winter Semester = GRRR...

So, we have only had 2 days of classes and I officially hate this semester! All of my classes are going to have 10- 12 page papers... GROSS! Can I please quit school now?!? I already have a ton of homework which by the way I am not doing and I should be. My feelings toward this semester can be wrapped up in one word... GRRR...

And while I am on that word... I just want to add a GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Well I must do something productive now... like unpack my stuff from Christmas break that is still sitting in the middle of the living room!
